FRUITS OF JERSEY ILLUSTRATED ON SET OF STAMPS
Fruits that have unexpectedly been grown in Jersey's climate, have been illustrated on special stamps.
Jersey Post said its latest stamp issue demonstrated the island's ability to "cultivate food usually associated with warmer climates".
The eight stamps illustrating fruits including figs, apples, plums and pears were painted with oil by local artist Rosemary Blackmore.
The service said all the fruits depicted had been grown on the island.
It said: "Jersey’s unique ability to grow fruits is partly due to the island’s fertile soil and special farming techniques.
"Due to the microclimate caused by being situated between England and France, Jersey has in the past been able to benefit from ideal weather conditions to grow an abundance of products, including the fruits featured in this issue."
