SOCIALISE LIKE THE OLD DAYS AT KARNIVAL RAKYAT KARANGKRAF!
SHAH ALAM - Karnival Rakyat Karangkraf brings more than 60 exciting traditional competitions and activities that can be participated in by people of all ages – children, teenagers or adults.
Project director Nik Justin Nik Mohd Ariffin said the carnival would be held in conjunction with Sinar Harian's 18th anniversary, aiming to reintroduce the nostalgia of the past to today's younger generation.
“We want to expose the younger generation to how social interactions were conducted in the past before the advent of technology, the internet, social media and so on. We are not rejecting technology but want to balance the need for social interaction.
“This carnival is being held on a large scale with over 60 competitions and traditional games that everyone can participate in. We want all age groups to experience the fun of this event,” he said when met here on Monday.
Further elaborating, he said that the competitions would be divided into two categories: school, featuring activities such as tating lawi, tuju tin, dikir barat, poetry and storytelling, while for the public category, activities include traditional children's attire, classic motorcycle shows, Tomkraf's best-dressed and village sports.
Nik Justin added that other interesting activities available include SinarPlus MakanFest, Tomkraf Cat Fiesta, Rahmah Sale, performing arts shows, traditional games and village sports, haunted house, Sinar Bestari school canteen day and demonstrations by uniformed bodies.
“We try to engage various groups by providing a range of activities. For example, we are organising the Tomkraf Cat Fiesta specifically for cat lovers and pet owners.
“During the three days of the carnival, we also have a mobile veterinary clinic. Those with pets can take this opportunity to get their pets checked,” he added.
Carnival will feature over 50 booths
In addition, Nik Justin said mentioned that the Karangkraf People's Carnival would feature over 50 booths, each with its own unique offerings.
He said each booth would have its own activities and competitions, which visitors can participate in throughout the three-day event.
“I guarantee this carnival will not be boring but will instead excite the public to join in, as each booth provides interesting activities and prizes.
“Not to be forgotten, for married couples, we also have a special activity for them called Couple Bikin Romantis on the second day of the carnival, July 27” he added.
At the same time, he said that visitors stand the chance to win various attractive prizes by participating in the lucky draw.
He explained that the entry requirement was simple, just register at the registration booth before entering the carnival area.
“Every day, we have two time slots where we announce 20 lucky visitors to win the lucky draw, and on the final day, we have a surprise grand prize.
“The attractive prizes include theme park tickets, motorcycles, exclusive items from Sinar Harian, Tomkraf, Grup Buku Karangkraf and others.
“I hope everyone can mark their calendars for the dates July 26 to 28 to attend this carnival,” he said.
