ORGANISER APOLOGISES FOR ‘AWKWARD’ LAUNCH OF OLYMPIC GAMES ATTIRE

PETALING JAYA: MY Creative Moment has issued an apology to the Olympic Council of Malaysia, the youth and sports ministry, and sports fans for issues during the launch of Malaysia’s official attire for the upcoming Paris Games last Sunday.

Its managing director, Wong Kang Woon, admitted the “awkward launch” in a statement today, Bernama reported.

“We acknowledge our shortcomings and take responsibility for any flaws in the management and organisation of the event as well as (attracting) comments from fans and netizens that affect the overall image of OCM,” he said.

“We wish OCM and the Malaysian contingent the best of luck.”

MY Creative Moment was the organiser of the 2024 World Olympic Day celebration, which featured the launch.

On social media, sports fans and netizens expressed disappointment and ridiculed the design of the gold-themed outfits and the use of mannequins instead of models or athletes.

Earlier today, youth and sports minister Hannah Yeoh said the attire will not be used for the opening ceremony of the games.

The 2024 Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to Aug 11.
