RESTAURANT PLAN FOR FORMER CITY CENTRE NIGHTCLUB

A disused city centre nightclub could be turned back into a restaurant.

Rock and metal club Bunker 13 in Hanley closed in 2017, and the prominent building in Pall Mall, which was previously a Chinese restaurant, has remained empty since.

Developers want to turn part of the single-storey building back into a restaurant, with the rest of it divided into four more commercial units.

The scheme would create 10 full-time jobs, according to the planning application, which has been lodged with Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

The application from Zaye Property Ltd stated the building had "progressively deteriorated" since its closure, and a "complete overhaul" would be required to bring it back into "habitable use."

It said the aim was to turn it into "an exciting place to work and visit" and regenerating the building would "provide a transformative rebirth of the entryway to Pall Mall.”

The city council will consider the proposals over the coming weeks.
