FOOTBALL FANS' WEDDING PHOTOBOMBED BY RIVAL FLAGS

A Derby County-mad couple planned a Rams-themed wedding - only for their Sheffield United-supporting friends to cut in with flags of their beloved Blades.

Peter and Leanne Berrisford tied the knot at Inkersall Grange Farm in Nottinghamshire in May.

As lifelong supporters of the recently-promoted Rams, they made it a double celebration - with everything from their entrance music to table names, confetti and cake toppers given a Derby County theme.

But as the confetti was being thrown, two huge Sheffield United flags were secretly unfurled to photobomb the happy couple's official pictures - giving them a shock when they came back from the photographer.

Mr Berrisford, 35, from Crich in Derbyshire, and Mrs Berrisford, 36, from Alfreton in Derbyshire, met as their mothers are firm friends, and the couple have always shared a love of their football team.

Mrs Berrisford, who now lives with her husband in Kirkby-in-Ashfield in Nottinghamshire, said: "We had planned a theme around Derby County so we were hoping we were going to get promotion.

"We might have had to make some changes if they didn't get it - I don't think Peter could have taken the heartbreak.

"But my best friend's family are huge Sheffield United fans. They asked if they could bring a flag along, I thought they were joking.

"But when we got the photos back, they were peppered with Sheffield United all over the place."

Luckily, the couple took the rivalry in good humour - although they are not planning to switch allegiances any time soon.

"We're still friends," Mrs Berrisford added.
